Keep in mind that this is the forum for our development version. Being that this version is in development, things will change on a frequent (almost constant) basis, so new problems may occur while old problems may be fixed. Before asking for help for "Dockyard-devel", please make sure you are using the latest version of the packages for our development version. It may be helpful to use an FTP client to keep a local copy of the latest packages, which can be located either at ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/arklinux/dockyard-devel/ or at http://arklinux.osuosl.org/dockyard-devel/ (choose which arch you need packages for, also be sure to copy noarch because these will work on all arches).

If you decide to ask for help anyway, follow these tips:

Search the forum for your issue. Your problem may have been asked (and solved) for someone else first. If so, you will get your answer faster, and you'll avoid annoying us with repeat questions.

Choose the Support forum for the version of Ark Linux you're using. If you post to "Dockyard-devel" and your asking for help with "Dockyard", we'll expect to help you with and an entirely different version, so we might not tailor our advice to help with your specific problem.

Don't hijack someone else's thread. They'll have a slightly different setup from you, and often times it will be a slightly different problem from yours. If it turns out to be the same problem, we can merge your thread with theirs.

Be exhaustively detailed. The more information we have for your problem, the fewer questions we'll need to ask to find out what's wrong, and the sooner we'll be able to provide you the correct solution.

Be polite and patient. We are here to help. There is no need to get mad at us because a solution doesn't work. If it doesn't work, simply tell us any errors, and we can try something else.

Help others if you can. If you help them, they could very well pay you back by helping you.

you can build your own network file system
if you have an older pc around fill it with hard drives
you dont need a big monitor or high quality one either for it
file transfer does not require a large amount of memory either!
you can remove the modem and sound cards ( if they are the pci or older isa cards) and even install extra network cards also
use a small drive for the os and larger ones for the storage and set them up as shared drives and hook them up to a router (if you want to use the resident os already in the computer)
or install a server program such as sms, centos, or even vector with the samba and nfs options set)
( I build these and set them up a lot.) ((even better it the board also has multiple sata ports)
this is also another great way to recycle an old pc

this neat program will allow you to easily set up an iso on a usb stick (creating a live stick) that you can boot a computer with (providing the computer can boot from a usb)
its fast and easy and sourceforge has the instructions for using it
its much faster than using a live cd

unetbootin is free and open source software that you can download for windows or linux
this neat program will allow you to easily set up an iso on a usb stick (creating a live stick) that you can boot a computer with (providing the computer can boot from a usb)
its fast and easy and sourceforge has the instructions for using it
its much faster than using a live cd
i took one look at the car and reached in and pulled the lock button up!
The Package Requests have go away. Any new package requests should be sent to the bugtracker at http://arklinux.org/bt.
I do some work on mac computers as well but not a lot
I am impressed with the old g4 that thing was built like a tank (heavy and very durable)

I recently resurrected a G3 and installed OS X on it
works good and is set up for mac troubleshooting and games
it has some awesome voice recognition capabilities and it amuses me to see peoples reaction when i tell it to turn the lights on and off (relay controlled through the parallel printer port)
of course the newer macs are nice but they are still very expensive.
